"you can't love anyone anymore than the extent to which you love yourself"
This quote really hit home for me today. I think that the idea of "loving ourselves" gets lost in our daily activities and I know for me personally its something that I've neglected. And its not anything that I'm proud of....it's just a fact that I'm no longer ashamed to admit: I don't love myself as much as I should.
That "love" extends to taking time out for myself and making sure that I am caring for my individual needs as a person. Sometimes that looks like going for a run to better my physical self, or taking some quiet time to journal/let my thoughts rest, or anything that forces me to slow down and just...be.
Having said that, this inability to take care of myself obviously crosses over into how I love other people in my life. And I don't know about you but I never want my personal state of mind of affect the people I love; but sometimes it does. And if I'm being completely honest, sometimes my own insecurities hinder my relationships with the people I love the most...
That is why I am challenging myself to do better, and I want to encourage you to do the same. Just make sure that you take the time today and everyday to show yourself some love ;]
How does this quote relate to your life? Do you take time to "show yourself some love"?
