Fall In The Bluegrass

Fall in the bluegrass has it's benefits. For one, I can actually feel the seasons change and for two, there are so many exciting things going on you just feel morally obligated to celebrate the transition! (and when have I ever passed up a reason to celebrate anything?)

So today I just wanted to share with ya'll my fall wish list and it goes a little something like this....

- Visit a winery
- Take a trip to Hubers Orchard and pick apples and pumpkins
- Bake my first ever pumpkin pie; from scratch
- Enjoy Churchill Downs and Keeneland
- Attend The Bourbon Social
- Bonfires before it gets too cold
- Revamp my fall wardrobe

What's on you list of things to do this fall?

MY Fall TV Lineup

Fall represents a lot of things to me. Fresh, new leaves to romp around in, pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks and the return of my favorite primetime TV series'.

This week marks the launch of some newbies, show returns and finales and I wanted to share some of my favorites with you! Let's just say I'll be spending a lot of time with my DVR in the months to come but that's okay because there is nothing better than sitting down to watch a show that makes you OMG and LOL with a glass of wine. So lets get to it!

The Singles Project.
I am OBSESSED with this brand new show on Bravo. The premiss is this: 6 New York successful singles scouring the big apple in search of love. However, this "project" is social network based; meaning that viewers can give advice to the singles and even help pick their dates. I love this interaction, not to mention the fact that these people are so brave to share their search for love with the world. My hats off to them! I'm particularly fond of Erika in the green dress; she's my boss lady idol!
Check out The Single Project Tuesdays at 10pm on BRAVO {the season finale is next week}

Don't Be Tardy.
I am not ashamed to admit that I love Kim Zolciak Bierman and her whole clan. As someone whose been there since she was on the first season of Real Housewives of Atlanta, watching her life literally transform has been so interesting and inspiring in the weirdest of ways. I love that she is so unapologetically herself and her "ask, believe, receive" mantra is something we should all live by. And her kids are the absolute cutest! I can't wait for next season.

How To Get Away With  Murder
I am so excited for this new show! Viola Davis is amazing in every project she's involved in so that alone has me intrigued. Outside of her being a defense attorney and the students in her class having seemingly shady pasts, I don't know much else about the show but I can't wait to check it out. This legal drama premiers tonight at 10pm.

We have now reached the holy grail portion of todays post. Scandal is life and I can't wait to watch tonight! I think what I love most about this show outside of the fashion; Olivia Pope is a BOSS, is the fact that this is one of few genuinely unpredictable shows out there. I can think I have everything figured out and then Shonda Rimes is like "nope; not so fast" and I'm left yelling at the TV in shock. And when this southern belle finds something that leaves her speechless, it's probably something worth sticking with :]

What shows are you excited about this fall?

Lip Service

I am a lipstick novice, so when I stumbled upon an image on Instagram that shows the perfect shades to wear for fall, I decided to take notice! Especially since the only lipstick shades I own are ones that I "borrowed" from my mother. I'm crushing on the burgundy and black currant.

What do you think of these colors?

Currently Coveting: September

I guess you're not officially a blogger until you've created a "currently coveting" list so here's my first one ya'll. This is the collection of everything I'm loving for the month of September.

one. These yogas are ultimate; cranking things up a notch from the original VS yoga pant. Perfect for working out and making your butt look A+ awesome.

two. I love ombre hair for fall! So much so that next week I'm changing my hair style. Hello extensions. Hello ombre!

three. I've used other mascara's before but always come to this amazing one from Clinique. My short, curly eyelashes need all the help they can get and this product goes above and beyond!

fourAs we all know, carrying around a naked iPhone is dangerous....and if you gotta protect that $400+ phone, you might as well be fancy. Love this em from Kate Spade.

five. Some of favorite bloggers introduced me to this bag, and I've had my eyes on it for months! Perfect for a little weekend getaway.

six. I haven't owned a wallet in about six months and if you ask me, I'm asking for trouble. It's a miracle I haven't lost anything, knock on wood. Thank goodness for my best friend Michael Kors and all his amazing new designs for fall. I love this classic black style.

What are ya'll coveting this month?

The Dreaded B-Word....Budgeting

Budget; the most dreaded b-word known to all mankind, at least in my opinion. I think I've briefly touched on my struggles with effectively saving money long term here on MGC before, but this week I finally figured out why I feel like I can't seem to save anything consistently. I eat out too much.

I actually sat down and calculated all the money I've spent on fast food/eating out in the past 2 weeks and was in wonder I don't think I can put anything away! I'm literally eating myself out of house and home. But no more my friends. It's time I kicked this bad habit once and for all.

My plan is to at least begin teaching myself effective techniques for saving money and that starts with setting boundaries for myself. Baby steps.

Create a savings account. I've had one off and on for about 4 years, but every now and then something big comes up and I end up clearing the account. At most banks you have to put down a minimum amount of money to open one, my personal goal is keeping that money in there no matter what!

Eating out once a week. Not one day a week. One meal a week. This will take a lot of a adjusting for me, but since I know for a fact that this is where my money goes, I want to make it my #1 priority.

Keep a record. I've already started doing this, but keeping a record of how much you're spending on what keeps you accountable. I can try and deny/rationalize my financial situation all I want, but those receipts make it real. And you can't change that. For me at least, seeing things in black and white makes all the difference.

Do ya'll practice good saving techniques? How do you keep yourself in check when it comes to money?

5 Tips For Clearing Your Complexion

So recently I've been doing some revamping when it comes to my skin care regimen so I wanted to push out a short series on skin! Today I wanted to share some of my tips for clearing my completion! They're simple, easy and they've worked for me over the years!

Water Is Your Friend. This, at least for me, is the easiest tip to follow for boosting my complexion. Just drink more water. I help get in the extra H2O by always keeping a water bottle with me, that way I can fill up at home and when I'm on the go. Providing your skin with this extra moisture helps renew your appearance.

Hands Off. I would not get a passing grade in keeping my hands off my face. It's so hard isn't it? It's a  natural human reaction, especially for those of us who primp. However I've learned over time that a hands off policy is best when it comes to my face. I mean, just think about how many surfaces your hands not only touch, but are exposed to on a daily basis. Do you want all of that on your face? No way Jose!

Wash Your Pillowcases. My mom instilled this habit into me from a young age. Providing your face a clean surface to sleep on will help prevent unnecessary breakouts.

No Makeup At Bedtime. I don't know about you, but sleeping in my make up is typically the number 1 reason my skin goes south. After all, you're clogging your pores and nothing good can come from that. One way I combat this pitfall is with makeup removal pads. They make makeup removal simple and easy.

Hit The Snooze. I'm down for any excuse to stay in bed a little longer in the am, but it turns out that sleeping renews your skin cells. Theres a reason your skin looks well rested after a good nights rest! So don't you listen to anyone who tells you there's no such thing as beauty sleep.

What are some of your methods for clearing up your complexion?

My Daily Blogroll

Even before I launched My Gorgeous Chaos back in March, I was an avid blog reader. Granted, my blogroll has increased significantly since then, but what attracts me to a site is still the same. I love bloggers who find a way to stay unique in this over-saturated blog world, bloggers who make me laugh, think, try something new, bloggers who know their voice and stick to that in their posts...this almost makes me feel over time that I know the girls behind the blogs that I frequent. Its the best feeling and I hope that over time ya'll will feel the same about MGC.

So today I wanted to give you guys a sneak peak at my daily blogroll! Be sure to share some of your favorites below!

Weekend Ramblings

Weekends are usually for resting and relaxing but that almost never happens for me; this was no different. For starters I did something that I almost NEVER do; I went on a date. I met the young gentleman on Tinder if you can believe it, and I actually had a really nice time. We had dinner hibachi style and then saw No Good Deed at the movies. He was the perfect gentleman, plus it felt good to throw on some makeup and a nice dress for a change.

I also made several purchases that I'm really excited about. For starters I finally joined LA Fitness. I've been slacking when it comes to my personal health and fitness, so I'm excited that I finally took the plunge to get my body back. Notice how my LA Fitness tag is strategically placed next to my Orange Leaf one. Oh the struggle.

I also tried out liquid foundation for the first time in my life. Have ya'll ever used it? I think its wonderful. My typical makeup brand of choice is MAC and as it turns out my shade is 7.5 in the medium coverage. I typically thought that liquid foundation would make me look shiny and fake but I was pleasantly surprised with how natural it looked. What do ya think? Pardon my selfie sassiness.

Speaking of makeup, I also picked up this little gem from Sephora; a slate of 36 eyeshadows and 6 lip gloss colors. Now I'll be honest with you, outside of mascara and foundation I am completely illiterate when it comes to makeup. I have no clue what I'm doing and its painful evident every time I try to go out. So I'm hoping that this, and YouTube, will help teach me a thing or two :]

Last, but certainly not least is my new Garnier Clean Blackhead Eliminating Scrub. I've been battling random acne breakouts for the past few months so I decided to give this new product a try. So far I can tell that my pores are a little smaller, but it claims that one week of usage will reduce blackheads so I'll keep ya'll posted on my progress.

Whew! That was a lot of stuff! How was your weekend? Did you try anything new?

SS Print Shop

I have always been a fan of pretty paper. I am even more a fan of the creative people who dream up this eye candy. It's with that spirit that I want to introduce all of you to Stephanie Sterjovski. She is one of my favorite bloggers and happens to own her own print shop, SS Print Shop.

Below are some of my favorite pieces from her collection! My favorite is the pink peonies piece. Enjoy and have a great weekend!
