Keep It Positive

I had another post planned for today but I woke up with something on my heart and decided to share my thoughts with you beautiful ladies.

So I recently started reading "I Declare: 31 Promises to Speak Over Your Life" by Joel Osteen and I kid you not when I say that I felt the spirit convicting my heart on page one. Osteen opens the book by challenging his readers to reflect on the thoughts that we have internally and the words that we speak externally. What do those conversations sound like?

For me, I quickly realized that both my thoughts and words have a tendency to land on the negative side of things. And after some self reflection I think its because I put too much daily pressure on myself. I become so focused on the destination that I can't trust the Lord enough to take one step. As a result, my frustration comes in waves of negative word vomit.

"You cannot talk defeat and expect to have victory. You can't talk lack and expect to have abundance. You will produce what you say. If you want to know what you will be like five years from now, just listen to what you're saying about yourself"

Guilty as charged. The good news is that this is an issue that I know I can defeat with some work. That's why I think this book is so awesome because it literally gives you something positive to focus on every day for 31 days. That's 31 powerful declarations. I like to start my day with them before I even roll out of bed, before I have the chance to talk myself out of God's grace.

So I guess I'm writing all of this to say that we, me and you, have got to be positive. For some people it comes so naturally and for others it takes a little work. But we have so many things to be thankful for and so many blessings in our lives and that's where our focus should be.

So here's your Friday mantra girlfriend: above all else, keep it positive and always remember that He has plans for you!

Now go grab some coffee or something a little stronger and have a great day!
