The Best Matte Red Lipsticks

I'm one of those girls that has a ton of red lipsticks but only two neutral shades for everyday. You know, because I’m practical. Okay, so that’s probably not true; I’m a Gemini so I live in the land of dramatic and doing the most, but I honestly can’t help it. For me, a red lip is always effortless, timeless and sexy AF so when it comes to buying them I’ve always believed more is more!

So today I wanted to share my 4 favorites with you, my creme de la creme plus my two cents about each brand, the works. Don't forget to leave your ride or die red shade in the comments, I'm always on the hunt for another addition to my collection!

1. Cruella by NARS
I love this product so much because it's basically a giant crayon! The pigment is bold and super creamy and even though to drys into a matte it doesn't feel like it. Make sure you have a giant pencil sharpener for this one ladies. If you could only buy one lipstick from this entire post, I'd go with this one hands down.

2. Ruby Woo by MAC
Ruby is an oldie but goodie for me. This was the first red lip I ever purchased and I keep coming back for more. I always line my lips and fill them in with "He Said She Said" before applying this overtop but you can totally go without it. Mac lipsticks always have a great formula so the color payoff is amazing.

3. Mary Jo K by Kylie Jenner
Yes I participated in the Hunger Games that was purchasing a Kylie Lip Kit back before they got their site stocked. It was rough ya'll but it was worth it. Mary Jo is also a blue red and is the only one of the five that I have to mentally remember to prep my lips before applying because it can be a tad bit drying on me. I know they've updated the formula since I bought this last fall so I've heard that has gotten better, but it hasn't been a deal breaker for me because the color payoff is Grade A. This lipstick does come with a liner but I lost mine in a Tin Roof bathroom at 2am so....yeah.

4. Pioneer by Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink
The only drugstore lippie of the bunch, I bought Pioneer after receiving another Maybelline Matte Ink lipstick in an Influester box and I fell in love with the formula. It claims to last for 16 hours and while I've never kept my lipstick on that long, I will say that this one lasts great through eating and drinking! I don't know where it is right now ha, but its AMAZING for the price!

And that's it, my favorite red lips! I did just purchase a red/orange shade from color pop so I'll let ya'll know how I like that over on Instagram. Make sure you let me know the name of your favorite red lipsticks below!

The $10 Target Dress

Yup, you read that right. This dress is ten dolla no holla ya'll and I love everything about it! From the ruffle details under both arms, to the waist tie, the breathable material and the versatile print; this is a piece you can wear now and easily transition into the fall with a denim jacket. I wanted it to pop so of course I used one of my favorite red lipsticks (stay tuned for a full roundup of the best matte red lipsticks coming to the blog later this week). I also slid my feet into the mules that I can not get enough of. I've already purchased them in black too #Necessary.

On another note how was everyone's weekend?! I discovered a new spot in Louisville called The Hub and had amazing wine, played pool and enjoyed the best spinach and goat cheese dip EVA! I also ate my entire body weight in food at the Kentucky State Fair Saturday and bought some cool new sunnies! Sadly I still wish there was an extra day between Sunday and Monday because I always feel like I need one more day to recuperate no matter what I do, is anyone else like this?

Anyways it's back to reality and I hope ya'll have a blessed and amazing week! Be sure to check out this bomb AF jumpsuit that I posted last week or my new series called Friday Five

Friday Five: August 25th

Hi friends! Happy Friday! What are you beautiful ladies getting into this weekend? I'm excited because I'm getting my nails done AND I get to go eat my body weight in food at The Kentucky State Fair. I saw these fried mac and cheese balls on Instagram that need to be in my belly #HungryGirlProbs.

Anyways I usually don't post content on Friday's but I wanted to test the waters and try this new series called Friday Five. A lot of the bloggers that I follow do this and basically I leave Friday as my day to give you the quick and dirty of 5 things I was obsessed with during the week; food, fashion, beauty, you name it.

I know this is new so ya'll let me know in the comments and on social if you like these kinds of posts okay! Let's get started!

1. Sleepy Body Lotion: I am unapologetically obsessed with Lush and this body lotion is hands down one of the best things I've ever purchased from them! It. Smells. So. Freaking. Good. Scents of lavender, cocoa butter and almond oil help drift you into the purest state of it's this perfect creamy consistency that actually moisturizes. A lot of products out there smell like heaven but don't do jack squat for your skin. Not over here friends. And I know it's my job to share all of the things with ya'll so it might sound obvious for me to say this, but you NEED this lotion.

2. Over The Top Lip Gloss: I showed ya'll this BOMB lip gloss over on Instagram stories earlier this week and I knew I had to include it in my first Friday Five. They call it "Over The Top" because you can literally add it to the top of anything it's so versatile. Plus it doesn't stick to everything like a lot of glosses but its so shiny and helps makes ya lips look extra juicy! Unfortunately it is sold out but there will be a restock next month so I'll be sure to keep ya'll posted when it drops.

The collection also came with lipsticks, highlighters and a palate so be sure to check that out as well!

3. Podcasts: I know I'm late when it comes to the podcast train but now that I've found a few that I like I seriously can't get enough. I listen at my desk while I work and sometimes it's even nice to turn off the radio and get centered on my drive in the morning. Some of my favorite podcasts include The My Taught You Podcast, The NPR podcast called How I Built This (about entrepreneurs and bad ass girl bosses), Fohr Casts A Drink With James (about blogging and influencer marketing; tips and tricks), and Hyper Caroline Hobby's podcast where she recently interviewed my BFF in my head Mallory Ervin. If ya'll don't do another thing today you MUST listen to this podcast. Mallory is a dream to follow on social and her message of reinventing yourself and always choosing joy is so inspirational. I've linked everything for ya'll so you can stop and listen if you want.

4. Nike No-Show Socks: I'm probably being too type-A by saying this but I hate it when my socks show in my tennis shoes. Correction; I hate it when my white socks show. And since 99.9% of my socks are white and none of them match, when it's time to go to the gym I always look like a 4-year-old from the ankles down. So I decided to give no-show socks a try and I am in heaven! These Nike socks come in a 3 pack and are perfect for all types of exercise!

5. Sunflower Fields: Super random I know, but I keep seeing these gorgeous images of people surrounded by these tall beautiful sunflowers and I need to find a field of my own and do it for the gram one time! So if you're reading this and you live in Louisville or Lexington and know where the sunflowers are hiding help me out :]

And that's my Friday Five! I hope ya'll have a great weekend and I'll see you back here on Monday!

Having Confidence At Work

When I landed my "big girl job" I honestly had all the feels on my first day. I was excited to be starting a brand new opportunity at an amazing company but I was nervous to be the new kid on the block. I also wanted to make a good impression and soak up everything that I possibly good while also kicking ass and taking names, you know, the usual stuff.

I was definitely a walking roller coaster of "new girl" emotions and even though I'm a few months in, I still feel a rotation of all those thoughts and feelings most days. And when I sat down to think about why, it all boiled down to confidence. I wanted to be more confident at work.

But you can't just snap your fingers and wish for confidence, it takes time my friend. So today I thought I would share some of the tips that I'm using to help build my confidence at work. I say build because honey it is a PROCESS. I'm not there 100% either but I know this is a valid struggle for a lot us so hopefully this post helps.

1. Look The Part my leggings weren't gonna cut it at my new office so it was time for a bit of an upgrade. I didn't spend a ton of money starting out, but I did get a few cute dresses and classic work pants to get me through. Working in a business casual office can be tricky though, some people cross too far over the line in one direction or another so my rule of thumb has always been to dress similar to my boss. And I know it sounds....superficial to say that clothes make a difference but they really do. I believe fashion breeds confidence and that looking good makes you feel good! So go on and get you some clothes girl. I found this wrap dress at Nordstrom during the Anniversary Sale and I am IN LOVE! I've also linked a few other business casual pieces that would be great whether you're a teacher, an intern, work in an office or any job in between.

2. Put In The Time
One thing I struggle with personally is wanting to be the best at everything right away! But I know that's not a realistic expectation to have so I make sure I put in the time to learn what I can not only during training but also on my own. Taking a TON of notes helps and it might sound like a no brainer to learn your stuff, but you'd be surprised. It'll give you that extra boost of confidence to start feeling like you know what you're doing.

3. Understand What's Expected Of You
For me I love clear direction, feedback, all of it. Knowing what's expected of me helps me navigate through a new situation with less stress because there are boundaries. Is anyone else like this?

4. Stay In Your Lane
There's always that one person at every job that likes to tip tap over the line and you do not want to be that girl. Trust. So stay in your lane haha, whatever that means in your life/job situation. Granted, I'm super outgoing in real life but work Morgan likes to listen more and talk less until I get the feel for my environment.

5. Fake It Till Ya Make It
To be honest, most of us are doing this anyways, I mean confidence for me honestly comes and goes. Some days I feel like I've got the hang of things and the next day I'm shaking my head in pure confusion haha so who REALLy knows at this point! All I can do is wake up everyday, do my best and learn something I didn't know the day before.

Anyways I hope this helps ya'll. Bottom line you already have everything inside you to be the #GirlBoss you know you can be! So don't be afraid of that internal power.

Jumpin' Jumpin'

Ladies leave ya man at home cause this jumpsuit hugs all ya curves in all the right places. To be honest I usually shy away from long jumpsuits like this one because of my hip to thigh to butt ratio usually results in a cluster in the crotch area ha! And it ain't cute. But this little black number from The Mint Julep Boutique changed the game.

The material is super breathable and has an adjustable tie around the waist. It is a little long so ladies grab them wedges, my shorter gals could probably get this hemmed with no problem. I love the black because its slimming and perfect for transitioning into fall. The Mint Julep Boutique also has a similar version in navy too that I've linked here for ya'll. Unfortunately the earrings are sold out in hot pink but they do have them in red and I've linked them below!

Anyways, make sure ya'll check out The Mint Julep Boutique if you're looking for trendy and classic pieces. Their entire website is full of amazing this for fall and they have a ton on sale too! I want to personally thank their team for sponsoring and collaborating with me on this post. I hope ya'll have an amazing day!

Who What Wear Collection

When it comes to having self control I think I do alright for not going "cray cray overboard" with most things in life. That doesn't mean I don't have weaknesses though and they usually come in two forms: food (because duh!) and shopping. The store in particular that I do not trust myself in is Target and I feel comfortable speaking for all us ladies when I say that place is trouble. I mean seriously, I can go into Target for tampons and contact solution and come out with $150 worth of clothes, accessories and crap from that darn $1 section that I'm never going use but buy because it's seasonally appropriate and cute! So yeah, I do not trust myself.

Every now and then though I walk into my local Target knowing exactly what's about to go down. And when Who What Wear dropped their fall collection a few weeks back I just accepted the inevitable shopping that would take place. For those of you that don't know, Who What Wear started off as a blog and turned into a fashion empire. Every season they release a new collection with Target and it is always flame. Perfect pieces for work and play!

So today I wanted to share some of my favorite pieces from their collections with ya'll. I'll be styling more pieces in the weeks to come but I wanted to kick things off with this look. I love that this sleeveless sweater is a tease on fall and winter! Plus this fun floral skirt and my new favorite shoes make this the perfect work to dinner outfit under $50! Make sure you stop by your local Target and check out the collection okay! You're gonna love all the things! Have a great Monday ya'll, it feels so good to be back!
